We first came across the EZERAFT at the Düsseldorf Boat Show this year. As you probably know, we absolutely love our OC Tender and had no intention of replacing it. However, the EZERAFT really impressed us — it’s simply a great product that solves many of the common issues cruisers (including us!) experience with their dinghy.

So… what did we do? We bought one anyway 😊

For now, we’re keeping and using both dinghies, and down the track we may decide to part with the OC Tender — but the EZERAFT has certainly made a strong case for itself.

Why we love the EZERAFT

  • Ultra lightweight – we chose the 270 model, which weighs just 13kg
  • Compact storage – packs down small enough to easily fit in a locker
  • Quick to deploy – inflates in around 8 minutes and deflates in about 5
  • Easy to repair – inner tubes can be patched like a bicycle tube, or replaced for around €50
  • Self-draining design – can’t be swamped or fill with rainwater thanks to its raised floor
  • Affordable – a very cost-effective solution compared to traditional tenders

Why it works so well for our lifestyle

The EZERAFT’s design removes the need for bulky, expensive davits — something we’ve never wanted on our boat. Davits take up valuable space, impact your view, and let’s be honest… no one enjoys looking at the underside of a dinghy.

We love keeping our cockpit open, clean, and uncluttered — it’s where we spend most of our time relaxing and sailing.

Until now, we’ve stored our OC Tender on the foredeck, which works, but it takes around 15 minutes to deploy and recover. The EZERAFT is significantly quicker and easier, which makes a real difference in day-to-day cruising.

Another big plus for us is its soft construction. Our OC Tender is fibreglass — strong, but solid. With our swim platform down (which it is every day), there’s always the risk of it knocking or damaging the underside.

The EZERAFT, being fully soft, removes that concern completely.

Over summer you will see us using the EZERAFT throughout the Med and we will make some review videos too so stay tuned.
